Crocosmia 'Fireglow'

Plant type: Bulb

Availability : *sorry - currently out of stock - suggest saracen
Large rich orange/gold flowers with large mahogany and deep red markings, held above the leaves.

Of South African origin. Crocosmia originate in South Africa and are some of the best perennials for the summer-autumn border. They prefer full sun or part shade, and thrive in moisture retentive soil. Plant the corms at least 4 inches (10cm) deep and split the clump every 3-4 years to ensure a good supply of flowers. For full growing tips click on 'Cultivation Guides' on the menu on the left.

GUIDE TO CROCOSMIA POT SIZES

Our Crocosmia are supplied in 9cm pots with a more limited range of larger clumps in 1 litre to 1.5 litre pots.

9cm pots each contain 1 to 3 corms, dependant on the variety. Each corm should produce 3 or more growing shoots in a season, and each shoot will go on to form a new corm the following season. A single 9cm pot should form a good sized clump in 2-3 years. For a more 'instant' clump we suggest that you plant three 9cm pots of the same variety close to each other. In the spring and summer we supply 9cm pots with them leaves slightly trimmed. In the autumn we usually trim the old leaves and flower stems back to 2" before posting. From late autumn to winter we supply the corms with fresh shoots appearing – these are packed in compost in small bags and can be planted directly outside or potted.

Our larger 1 litre and 1.5 litres pots are only available on certain varieties and typically contain 5-6 corms, with the exception of rare or large-corm hybrids where we might only be able to fit 1-2 bubs in a pot. We only have limited quantities of the larger pot sizes and do not publish them all on the web so please call to find out which other varieties we have ready.

All orders are sent with cultivation tips.
